BOMI International
Since its founding in 1970, the Building Owners and Managers
Institute (BOMI) has been a leading provider of adult education programs
for commercial property professionals. Throughout its 30+ years, the
Institute has remained true to its original charter, under which it
is operated as a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization, existing exclusively
for educational purposes.
At BOMI, our mission is to help our students advance in
their professions and, ultimately, improve their quality of life. Today,
this mission is carried out by 60 dedicated staff members at the Institute's
headquarters just outside of Annapolis, Maryland. Furthering the Institute's
work is our "extended" family, including the many industry
experts who author and review our textbooks, and the hundreds of certified
instructors who teach BOMI courses throughout North America.
Through the years, BOMI's educational offerings have grown
from a property management-focused curriculum to include training for
facilities managers, building engineers, and building technicians. The
Institute can fulfill any of your individual or team training needs,
ranging from assessment services to customized programs to specialized
courses and four professional designation programs: the Real Property
Administrator (RPA®), Facilities Management Administrator (FMA®),
Systems Maintenance Administrator (SMA®), and Systems Maintenance
Technician (SMT®). Notably, more than 19,000 professionals hold
one -- or more -- BOMI designations and nearly 10,000 students register
for individual courses each year.
