Each BOMI course includes an exam that is administered through an approved computer based testing centre. BOMI International has named Pearson VUE as exclusive administrator of its exams. Pearson VUE has facilities on its own or through its agents across Canada.
When an authorized testing centre is not available within 80 km of the student, a paper based test can be requested and these requests are approved on a case-by-case basis. Students arrange for their own exams (and any changes) directly through Pearson VUE. Students are encouraged to review the exam policies in the Computer Based Testing Student Handbook, as it outlines a number of important policies such as scheduling, changing exam dates and identification at the testing centres.
Some highlights include:
- You have six months to write your exam from the date you register for the course or the date of the accelerated classroom session.
- If you miss your exam for whatever reason, or you fail the exam you will be required to pay an Exam Administration fee to be able to write the exam.
- The exam consists of 100 multiple choice questions, the Ethics course is the exception where there are only 30 questions.
- The passing grade for a course is 70%.
- At the conclusion of the exam you will be provided an un-official transcript of your exam, be sure to keep this for your files.
- If you need to re-schedule your exam you must do so at least 1 full business day before your scheduled date.
- The Ethics exam can be taken from your home computer and you may take the exam as often as you like within the allotted time frame until you pass the exam. Once you pass you will not have access to take the exam again in order to get a higher grade.
The exam testing centre will require that you have identification that matches the name they have on their system. Check your documents when you receive them from Pearson VUE to ensure that you have identification documents that match their information.
For example: You commonly use your middle name and as a result you registered for the courses through BOMI with it, but all your legal identification papers use your first name. You will be refused access to the exam by Pearson VUE as your name will not match their records. If this were to happen, you will have been deemed to have missed your exam and you will be required to pay an Exam Administration fee to be able to write the exam.
As a result, if there is a discrepancy, make sure your name on our system matches your identification papers by calling BOMI Canada well in advance of your examination date. Also, make sure the exam they have listed on the documentation they send to you matches the exam that you will be taking.
