Self-Study Procedures & Policies
Self-Study students must register directly with BOMI Canada. Course materials is sent via courier. When students register they have the option of having course material sent to their office or their home. Since the material is sent via courier it is best sent to the office, however, all other correspondence can be sent to the home. All BOMI exams (except for the Ethics Short Course) are administered through computer-based testing in Pearson VUE testing centres across Canada. Students have a six-month eligibility period to schedule and take their exam. For self-study students, the eligibility period begins on the date of registration. If a student does not take the exam within their eligibility period, the student must pay an Exam Administration fee to begin a new six-month eligibility period.Upon receipt of the course registration and testing fees, BOMI will notify Pearson VUE that the student is eligible to schedule an exam appointment. BOMI will then send the student an Eligibility Letter, providing notification of the student’s eligibility period and instructions on how to schedule the exam appointment. This communication will include the student name, eligibility ID, course name, and eligibility start and end dates. Please insure that we have your correct e-mail or mailing address.
Students must check the accuracy of this document as it will be used by the testing centre to confirm your identify and the exam you will take. If there is an error, or you do not have matching identification you may be refused and not be able to write the exam and forfeit your exam date thereby requiring you to pay an Exam Administration fee in order to begin a new six-month eligibility period.
Students who register for the Ethics Is Good Business ® ShortCourse™ in the self-study format will be allowed 6 months from the date of registration to complete an online examination taken on home or work computer. Shortly after registration, students will receive a notice from BOMI by e-mail, providing instructions for writing the Ethics exam.
You can write this exam as often as you like in order to get a passing grade. However, once you pass you may not continue to take the exam to get a higher grade.
Students who do not write an exam within six months of their registration date must pay an Exam Administration Fee to initiate a new eligibility period. Similarly, students who fail their exam must pay this fee in order to rewrite the exam. Please contact the BOMI Office in order to make these arrangements.
